TRACK 7 - WOULDN'T RISK IT (FOR MY BRISKET)

This one is subtitled (for my brisket) but it's actually for my dad. Whenever there's any holiday meal or if we just feel like going out for delicious BBQ, and anytime someone gets a plate of brisket, the words that will always come out of my dad are "I wouldn't risk it!" It's one of my favorite foods to eat any time of the year, not just on Jewish holidays. I made this song into a blues track with students the chance to show off their Elvis style dancing, and I'm especially proud of the rhyming in this song with "juicy" and "you see". I like when you can rhyme one word with two and it opens up for more patterns. I love pastrami, turkey, roast beef, but right now I'm in the mood for some brisket!

7. WOULDN'T RISK IT (FOR MY BRISKET)
You smell the oven, you hear the pan
You feel it coming, you know I am
I wouldn’t risk it, I’m talking about my brisket
Fresh hot and juicy brisket is what you see on my plate

My friend he calls me, you want some grub?
Come on over I got a 25 foot sub
But I wouldn’t risk it, I’m saving room for my brisket
Fresh hot and juicy brisket is what you see on my plate

I got some homework, it’s piled high
I rush to finish, I’m telling you why
I wouldn’t risk it, I’m gotta have time for my brisket
Fresh hot and juicy brisket is what you see on my plate

Got mashed potatoes, a salad too
There’s room on the plate and I’m saving it for you
I wouldn’t risk it, I’m making the room for my brisket
Fresh hot and juicy brisket is what you see on my plate

Tell you daddy and tell your mommy
This ain’t no turkey, roast beef, or pastrami
Rosh Hashanah, Passover, any holiday
If I’m celebrating I know the way

The meal is over, I clean my plate
I see the leftovers I just can’t wait
I wouldn’t risk it, I’m putting my name on my brisket
Fresh hot and juicy brisket is what you see on my plate
Fresh hot and juicy brisket is what you see on my plate

Fresh hot and juicy brisket is what you see on my plate
