TRACK 6 - SHOW ME RESPECT

For this one, my mom who is also a teacher asked me to help her come up with a song to sing in her art class about showing respect for each other. I went out to take a walk around my neighborhood and 45 minutes later I come back home with the song written. One week later I got a great chance to perform it to other music teachers in the area at a special conference. I shared them the story of writing this song for my mother's class and all the teachers got to see the difference dances and ways we can sing this song and show respect no matter what class we are in.

A special treat came a month later. I had made a rough copy of a recording and sent it to the teachers. One of the teachers shared the song with all of her students, and they wrote special messages back saying how much they enjoyed listening to the song and the message of respect and friendship. I hope to spread that message to schools across the country, and everyone will be able to listen to this song and can sh sh sh sh show some respect!

6. SHOW ME RESPECT

I was sitting in my art class and started to draw

Picked out my favorite colors from the markers I saw

My teachers said draw anything, no limits allowed

Well I wouldn't call it perfect, but I'd sure call me proud

Some other kids were talking I heard them coming near

Didn't quite like a couple things I could hear

I told them "Hey Nice Drawings" they sure look cool

And while I got you with me let me tell you this rule
